Aalen is the largest town in the German state of Baden-Wurttemburg, in the district of Ostalbkreis, and is made up of several boroughs. Located towards the top of the River Kocher, Aalen is named for the River Aal, a small river near to the town. It is found in the south of Germany, but at the northern end of the Swabian Alps.
